Solution: Remaining time 4 weeks – 2 weeks 3 days.

Hence, 1 week 4 days more are left for the complete of the assignment.

(8) Somi spent her holidays 8 weeks 3 days in Nainital, Mussorie and Dehradun. She stayed in Nainital for 1 week 4 days and in Dehradun for 3 weeks 5 days. How many days did she spend in Mussorie?

Solution: Somi spent Nainital and Dehradun in both places

= 1 week 4 days + 3 weeks 5 days

= 4 weeks 9 days

= 5 weeks 2 days (7 days = 1 week)

∴ Somi spend in Mussorie = 8 weeks 3 days – 5 weeks 2 days

= 3 weeks 1 day.

(9) Sangita is 40 years old. Her brother is 14 years old 8 months younger. How old is her brother?

Solution: Sangita’s brother age = 40 years – 14 years 8 months

= 39 years 12 months – 14 years 8 months

= 25 years 4 months

(10) In 2 years 9 months from now, Suresh will be 13 years old. How old is Suresh now?

Solution:  Suresh age = 13 years – 2 years 9 months

= 12 years 12 months – 2 years 9 months

= 10 years 3 months

(11) Karen is 4 years 4 months old. Her mother is 26 years 2 months old. How old was her mother when Karen was born?

Solution: Age of Karen’s mother when Karen was born,

= 26 years 2 months – 4 years 4 months

= 25 years 14 months – 4 years 4 months (1 year = 12 months)

= 21 years 10 months

(12) I started teaching at the age of 21 years 5 months. I am now 43 years 2 months old. How long have I have been teaching?

Solution: I have been teaching, when I was

= 43 years 2 months – 21 years 5 months

= 42 years 14 months – 21 years 5 months (1 year = 12 months)

= 21 years 9 months

(13) Ananya was 10 years 6 months old when her sister Tanya was born. Her sister is now 27 years 8 months old. How old is Ananya now?

Solution: Now Ananya is,

= 27 years 8 months + 10 years 6 months

= 37 years 14 months

= 37 years + 12 months + 2 months

= 37 years + 1 year + 2 months

= 38 years 2 months
