(1) The audition of a school can seat 417 people at a time. The principal wants all the 3,336 students of all the local schools to see a special film on wild life. How many times must the film be shown, so that every student sees the film once?

Solution: The film be shown = 3336 ÷ 417 = 8 times.

(2) Find the number of pages in a book which has on an average 207 words on a page, and contains 2, 01, 411 words all together.

Solution: The number of pages in book = 201411 ÷ 207 = 973 pages.

(3) 7, 65, 564 books are to be arranged equally in shelves. If 487 books are arranged in each shelf, how shelves will be needed?

Solution: The needed shelves = 765564 ÷ 487 = 1572 shelves.

(4) The total cost of air tickets of 52 people from New Delhi to London is Rupees eight lakh twenty nine thousand six hundred eight. What will be the cost for 1 person?

Solution: The cost of the air tickets for 1 person = 829608 ÷ 52 = Rs 15954.

(5) An engine pumps out 875 litres of water per minute. How much time will it take to pump out 1312500 litres of water?

Solution: The required time = 1312500 ÷ 875 = 1500 minutes.

(6) Divide the greatest number of 8-digits by the greatest number of 3-digits.

Solution: 99999999 ÷ 999

(7) What must 789 be multiplied by to give 7897890?

Solution: 789789 ÷ 789 = 10010

(8) What is 532th part of 1004416?

Solution: 10044166 ÷ 532 = 1888..

(9) How many heaps of bricks, each containing 139 bricks, could be made out of half a million bricks?

Solution: Here, half a million = 500000

The number of heaps 3597 and remain 17.

(10) In a division sum, the division sum, the divisor is 63, the quotient is 857, and remainder is 27. What is the dividend?

Solution: Here the dividend = [(857 × 63) + 27] = 54018.
