EXERCISE 29
Add:
(1) 12.67, 4.34
= 12.67 + 4.34
= 17.01
(2) 26.83, 18.45
= 26.83 + 18.45
= 45.28
(3) 5.357, 11.303, 27.152
= 5.357 + 11.303 + 27.152
= 43.812
(4) 425.93, 85.65, 12.96
= 425.93 + 85.65 + 12.96
= 524.54
(5) 83.237, 12.125, 37.489, 52.675
= 83.237 + 12.125 + 37.489 + 52.675
= 185.526
(6) 6.9, 34.05, 9.468
= 6.9 + 34.05 + 9.468
= 50.418
(7) 175.8, 200.03, 412.358, 18.9
= 175.8 + 200.03 + 412.358 + 18.9
= 807.088
(8) 0.017, 0.1234, 0.9, 0.819, 0.05
= 0.017 + 0.1234 + 0.9 + 0.819 + 0.05
= 1.9094
(9) A tailor needs 52.18 cm of white lace for Rich’s shirt and 75.85 cm of the same lace for the top. How much lace does he need in all?
Solution: The tailor need in all lace (in cm) = 52.18 + 75.85 = 128.03 cm.
(10) Find the perimeter of the adjoining figure?
Solution: Perimeter of the adjoining figure (in cm) = (4.7 + 5.86 + 2.6 + 4.2 + 1.20 +1.20 + 13.43) = 33.19 cm
Find:
(11) 6.253 – 1.678
= 4.575
(12) 312.8 – 59.98
= 252.82
(13) 160 – 39.284
= 120.716
(14) A roll of fabric has 85.63 meters on it. If 43.76 meters are sold, how much is left?
Solution: Left fabric (in meters) = 85.63 – 43.76 = 41.87 meters.
(15) Sharon buys two bottles of perfume; one contains 52.5 mL and the other contains 156.54 mL. How much more perfume is in the larger of the two bottles?
Solution: The larger bottle of perfume (in mL) = 156.54 – 52.5 = 104.04 mL
(16) Sonu runs 153.35 m in 50 seconds and John runs 92.87 m in the same time. How much farther does Sonu run than John?
Simplify: Sonu run than John (in m) = 153.35 – 92.87 = 60.48 m.
(17) 639.209 + 17.813 + 6.275 – 3.468
= 663.297 – 3.468
= 659.829
