28.900, 19.640, 123.697, 0.354
Writing these decimals in column and adding, we get:
(28.900 + 19.640 + 123.697 + 0.354) = 172.591
Hence, the sum of the given decimals is 172.591
(7) 4.37, 9.638, 17.007 and 6.8
Solution: Converting the given decimals, we get
4.370, 9.638, 17.007, 6.800
Writing these decimals in column and adding, we get:
(4.370 + 9.638 + 17.007 + 6.800) = 37.815
Hence, the sum of the given decimals is 37.815
(8) 14.5, 0.038, 118.573 and 6.84
Solution: Converting the given decimals, we get
14.500, 0.038, 118.573, 6.840
Writing these decimals in column and adding, we get:
(14.500 + 0.038 + 118.573 + 6.840) = 139.951
Hence, the sum of the given decimals is 139.951
(9) During three days of a week, a rickshaw puller earns Rs 32.60, Rs 56.80 and Rs 72 respectively. What is his total earning during these days?
Solution: We have:
1st day 32.60 rupees
2nd day 56.80 rupees
3rd day 72.00 rupees
Total earning in three days (32.60 + 56.80 + 72.00) = 161.4
Hence, the earning money of the rickshaw puller is 161.40 rupees.
(10) A man purchase an almirah for Rs 11025, gives 172.50 as its cartage and spends Rs 64.80 on its repair. How much does the almirah cost him?
Solution: We have:
Cost of almirah 11025.00 rupees
Its cartage 172.50 rupees
Spend for the repair 64.80 rupees
Total spends money are (11025.00 + 172.50 + 64.80) = 11262.3 rupees
Hence, The cost of almirah is 11262.30 rupees.
(11) Ramesh covers 36 km 235 m by taxi, 4 km 85 m by rickshaw and 1 km 80 m on foot. What is the total distance covered by him?
Solution: We have:
Distance covered during the taxi 36.235 km
Distance covered by the rickshaw 4.850 km
Distance covered by the foot 1.800 km
The total distance is (36.235 + 4.850 + 1.800) = 41.328
Hence, the length of his journey = 41.400 km = 41 km 400 m.
(12) A bag contains 45 kg 80 g of sugar and the mass of the empty bag is 950 g. What is the mass of the bag containing this much of sugar?
Solution: Weight of empty bag = 0.950 kg
Weight of the sugar filled in it = 45.800 kg
Total weight = (0.950 + 45.080) = 46.3 kg
Hence, the total weight of the bag filled with sugar = 46.30 kg = 46 kg 30 g.
(13) Ramu bought 2 m 70 cm cloth for his shirt and 2 m 60 cm cloth for his pyjamas. Find the total length of cloth bought by him?
Solution: We have:
The length for cloth of shirt = 2.70 m
The length for cloth of pyjamas = 2.60 m
Total length of cloth = (2.70 + 2.60) = 5.3 m
Hence, the total length of cloth bought by him = 5 m 30 cm.
(14) Radhika bought 2 m 5 cm cloth for her salwar and 3 m 35 cm cloth for her shirt. Find the total length of cloth bought by her.
